married Part 3: The Consequences of Marriage I

Definition of Terms:

What is Marriage?

Marriage is a covenant union between two mature adults of opposite sexes for the purpose of procreation, pleasure and mutual pursuit of their God given destiny.

What is a Consequence?

1. A consequence is something that happens as a result of something else

2. A consequence is a resulting effect of something else

Genesis 2:24 NKJV

Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Marriage is a spiritual, mental, emotional and physical union between two mature adults of opposite sexes. Marriage has serious consequences.

Marriage can alter your personality, distort your dreams and hinder your progress. Marriage can also lead to increase, improve your life and empower you to go further faster.

Deuteronomy 7:3-4 NKJV

Nor shall you make marriages with them. You shall not give your daughter to their son, nor take their daughter for your son. For they will turn your sons away from following Me, to serve other gods; so the anger of the LORD will be aroused against you and destroy you suddenly.

Who you marry is as important as why you marry. Your marriage can pull you away from God or draw you closer to God. Marriage is influence.

Many people have been pulled away from the Christian faith because of marriage. This is because marriage is a union of spirits, souls and bodies. We begin to take on the values and the preferences of our spouses without knowing.

1 Kings 11:1-9 NKJV

Solomon's Heart Turns from the LORD

But King Solomon loved many foreign women, as well as the daughter of Pharaoh: women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites  from the nations of whom the LORD had said to the children of Israel, "You shall not intermarry with them, nor they with you.

Surely they will turn away your hearts after their gods." Solomon clung to these in love. And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his heart.

For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the LORD his God, as was the heart of his father David. For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and did not fully follow the LORD, as did his father David. Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on the hill that is east of Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the people of Ammon. And he did likewise for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods.

So the LORD became angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned from the LORD God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice,

Marriage never leaves you the same. It changes you for the better or for the worse. Marriage can either harden you towards God because of the many wounds and offenses or make you passionate for God.

The woman determines the spiritual atmosphere of the home. That is why men have to intentionally marry a spiritual woman.

The spirituality of the woman is what determines the quality of the atmosphere of the home. Marrying a woman is connecting with a helper or a destroyer.

The Bible says, “A wise woman builds up her house (family) while the foolish pulls it down with her hands.” See Proverbs 14:1

Proverbs 31:10-12 NKJV

Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil All the days of her life.

A woman is either a builder or destroyer so also is a man. A builder adds value to his or her spouse.

Their lives are getting better. But a destroyer makes your life sorrowful and regretful. If that is your experience in marriage both of you have to focus making the other person better by praying for them, helping them, loving them unconditionally and affirming them. Are you adding value to your spouse? Selah

YOU HAVE GOD’S LIFE IN YOU

HOME OF ARTICLES  “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:11-12 NKJV).   At the point of New Birth, the believers become the partakers of the very life of God—the everlasting life. Jesus said,  “ Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life .” (John 6:47 NKJV). John the Beloved testifies,  “ And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.   He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life . (1 John 5:11-12   NKJV). Everlasting life is not a future promise but a present reality, possession, or inheritance of the New Creation in Christ. The Life Jesus gives those who believe in Him is spiritual, divine, supernatural, heavenly, limitless, timeless, or everlasting. It is not inferior in any respect to the Life...

THE PARABLE OF THE TARES OF THE FIELD (Part 1)

HOME OF ARTICLES  “ The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one.” (Matthew 13:38 NKJV)   After the Lord Jesus had privately explained the parable of the Sower to His disciples, He put forth another parable about the tares of the field to the great multitude that was gathered to Him by the sea. Matthew 13:24-30 – NKJV  24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field;  25 “but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.  26 “But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared.  27 “So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’  28 “He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’  29 “But he said, ...

KINGDOM LIVING

HOME OF ARTICLES  E niyekpemi Fidelis Oyinpreyebi. KINGDOM LIVING There was a challenge in how the disciples understood the presence of God to be. They had a terrible reverence for that presence. - The presence that killed Aaron’s two sons (Leviticus 10:1-2) - Uzzah died when he grabbed hold of the Ark of the covenant (2 Samuel 6:6-7) - The presence that could kill the High priest if he carnally entered the Holy of Hollies. He had to take many precautions to ensure he was ritually pure and still with a back up priest in case it all goes wrong (Exodus 28:33-35) The presence had strict protocols, living that life was a dangerous one – I believe you will agree with me too. Moses gave them very specific instructions on how to approach the mountain. They could not “come as they were” but had to sanctify themselves.  They had to wear clean clothes and abstain from sexual relations. Once they got to the mountain,  they could not contact(touch anything) or they would die. - They ...
