YOU ARE GOD’S STEWARD (Part 2)

 HOME OF ARTICLES

The multitude of those who believed were of one heart and soul. Not one of them claimed that anything of the things which he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.” (Acts 4:32 WEB).

One of the things that distinguished the early believers from the rest of the people was their steward mentality or mindset. They acknowledged God as the actual owner of all the things they possessed. They regarded themselves only as stewards, caretakers, or managers of God’s resources.

Acts 4:32 – WEB

32 The multitude of those who believed were of one heart and soul. Not one of them claimed that anything of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.

The early believers were able to have a common purse, having all things in common, because none among them claimed that any of the things he possessed was his own. What a suitable company to belong to!

Today’s Church would be a great model if all the believers possessed the same steward mindset as the early believers. Today’s Church is materialistic because we don’t have a steward’s mentality like the early Church.

Many believers today have fallen into senseless temptations, strayed from the faith, and pierced their hearts with many sorrows in their greediness or voraciousness to possess or own the things of this world (1 Tim. 6:9-10).

Undoubtedly, possessing a steward mentality will substantially impact today’s Church as it did on the early Church. Let us consider some of the vast impacts or effects of the steward mentality upon the early Church.

First, because of the steward mentality of the early believers, there was no needy person among them.

Indeed, not all of them were rich. Many of the early believers were poor. There were many widows and orphans, yet none suffered any lack.

Can you imagine belonging to a church where no one lacks the necessities of life?

That is only possible where the believers possess a steward mentality!

The Scripture bears witness concerning the early Church.

Acts 2:44-47 – NKJV

44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common,

45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.

46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,

47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

Second, the steward mentality of the early believers fostered, nurtured, and sustained the unity of the Spirit among them. How? Because it eliminated pride, envy, or jealousy among them!

The rich, who might be haughty or arrogant, sold their properties and laid the proceeds at the apostles’ feet to distribute to every one according to his need. Therefore, the poor believers had no cause to be jealous of the wealthy believers.

What was the result of that?

Acts 2:46-47 – NKJV

46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,

47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

That is different from what we experience in our churches today!

The truth is this: pride is mostly the cause of our churches’ strife, contention, and division today. Solomon writes, By pride comes nothing but strife, But with the well-advised is wisdom.” (Proverbs. 13:10 NKJV).

Pride is simply self-seeking or self-centeredness. It is thinking only about yourself; it is being full of yourself. Pride breeds envy, jealousy, strife, confusion, and evil. James attests, For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.” (Jam. 3:16 NKJV).

It is challenging to foster unity among proud, self-seeking people. This is why it is increasingly difficult today for the brethren to dwell together in unity like the early brethren.

Possessing a steward mentality is an antidote to self-seeking, but confusion and every evil thing will be present when and where this is missing or lacking.

Lastly, the steward mentality of the early Church resulted in a greater manifestation of God’s incredible presence and outpouring of God’s blessings upon the entire Church.

The Scripture testifies to this truth.

Acts 4:33 – NKJV

33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.

Also, the multitude of believers had joy and gladness, praising God and having favor with all the people (Acts 2:46). Moreover, the Lord was pleased to add daily to the Church those who are being saved (Acts 2:47).

We are missing a lot today because we possess a self-seeking rather than a steward mindset.

Beloved, it is time for a positive mentality revolution in today’s Church.

Let it start with you today!

Prayer:

My Dear Heavenly Father, let a mighty positive mentality revolution from self-seeking to steward mentality start in today’s Church. Let it begin with me today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Our mandates is to Preserving the Faith of the Apostolic Generation.

YOU HAVE GOD’S LIFE IN YOU

HOME OF ARTICLES  “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:11-12 NKJV).   At the point of New Birth, the believers become the partakers of the very life of God—the everlasting life. Jesus said,  “ Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life .” (John 6:47 NKJV). John the Beloved testifies,  “ And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.   He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life . (1 John 5:11-12   NKJV). Everlasting life is not a future promise but a present reality, possession, or inheritance of the New Creation in Christ. The Life Jesus gives those who believe in Him is spiritual, divine, supernatural, heavenly, limitless, timeless, or everlasting. It is not inferior in any respect to the Life...

THE PARABLE OF THE TARES OF THE FIELD (Part 1)

HOME OF ARTICLES  “ The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one.” (Matthew 13:38 NKJV)   After the Lord Jesus had privately explained the parable of the Sower to His disciples, He put forth another parable about the tares of the field to the great multitude that was gathered to Him by the sea. Matthew 13:24-30 – NKJV  24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field;  25 “but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.  26 “But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared.  27 “So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’  28 “He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’  29 “But he said, ...

KINGDOM LIVING

HOME OF ARTICLES  E niyekpemi Fidelis Oyinpreyebi. KINGDOM LIVING There was a challenge in how the disciples understood the presence of God to be. They had a terrible reverence for that presence. - The presence that killed Aaron’s two sons (Leviticus 10:1-2) - Uzzah died when he grabbed hold of the Ark of the covenant (2 Samuel 6:6-7) - The presence that could kill the High priest if he carnally entered the Holy of Hollies. He had to take many precautions to ensure he was ritually pure and still with a back up priest in case it all goes wrong (Exodus 28:33-35) The presence had strict protocols, living that life was a dangerous one – I believe you will agree with me too. Moses gave them very specific instructions on how to approach the mountain. They could not “come as they were” but had to sanctify themselves.  They had to wear clean clothes and abstain from sexual relations. Once they got to the mountain,  they could not contact(touch anything) or they would die. - They ...
