“God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin.” 1 Corinthians 1:30 NLT
Wisdom is the most important or best thing to desire, pursue, and possess in this New Year. Solomon, the wisest King who ever lived, attests to wisdom’s preeminence: “Wisdom is the most important thing. So get wisdom. If it costs everything you have, get understanding.” (Prov. 4:7 ICB).
Also, Job testifies to the superiority of wisdom, “It is worth much more than silver or pure gold or precious stones. Nothing is its equal— not gold or costly glass.” (Job 28:15-17 CEV).
The Scripture distinguishes between two kinds of wisdom: God’s wisdom and this world’s wisdom. The wisdom of this world is natural, secular, and even demonic (Jam. 3:15). What the world says is wisdom is foolishness in God’s eyes.
Paul writes, “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness (absurdity, stupidity) before God…” (1 Cor. 3:19 AMP). Therefore, it is foolish and unprofitable for you to desire and choose to operate by this world’s natural and secular wisdom in this New Year.
God’s wisdom is better than money (Eccl. 7:12), strength (Eccl. 9:16), and weapons of war (Eccl. 9:18). The profits of operating in God’s wisdom are incomparable.
Proverbs 3:14-17 – AMP
- For wisdom’s profit is better than the profit of silver, And her gain is better than fine gold. 15. She is more precious than rubies; And nothing you can wish for compares with her [in value].
- Long life is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor.
- Her ways are highways of pleasantness and favor, And all her paths are peace.
Divine wisdom is priceless. “You cannot buy wisdom with even the purest gold. There’s not enough silver in the world to pay for it.” (Job 28:15 ERV).
God’s wisdom is transcendental. Divine wisdom is not available in any market or store in the world. Job queries, “But where can wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding? Man does not know its value, Nor is it found in the land of the living. The deep says, ‘It is not in me,’ And the sea says, ‘It is not with me.” (Job 28:12-14 NKJV).
Unlike the wisdom of this world, the wisdom from above “is first pure [morally and spiritually undefiled], then peace-loving [courteous, considerate], gentle, reasonable [and willing to listen], full of compassion and good fruits. It is unwavering, without [self-righteous] hypocrisy [and self-serving guile].” (Jam. 3:17 AMP).
The wisdom from above is not abstract, fiction, an idea, or a concept. Neither is it a formula nor a phenomenon. God’s wisdom is a divine personality, Christ Jesus!
Paul states, “But we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.” (1 Cor. 1:23-24 NKJV).
Therefore, anyone seeking divine wisdom must bear in mind that what they will find is not fiction but a person, not an abstract but Christ, not a concept but a Lord, not a phenomenon but a personality, and not an idea but a divine being.
The wisdom from above is not found in a place but in a Person, in Christ Jesus. Jesus Christ is the fountain of divine wisdom. The Scripture describes Jesus Christ as the Person “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Col. 2:3 NKJV).
If you are a born-again believer in Christ, God’s wisdom (Christ) now dwells within you. Hallelujah! Therefore, stop trying to think, speak, and act like those without Christ and God’s wisdom.
The wisdom in you is superior to the wisdom of this world. You are wiser than the wisest person by the world’s standards. The wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight!
Beloved, choose to operate in the wisdom from above this New Year by spending quality time daily to read, study, meditate, imbibe, internalize, obey, and practice Christ’s teachings. As you grow more and more in the knowledge of Christ, you will bear the fruits of God’s wisdom in your thoughts, speech, and actions.
Therefore, this New Year, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” (Col. 3:16 NKJV).
If Christ is not reigning in your heart, you are still without the wisdom from above. However, you can access God’s wisdom today by believing, receiving, and confessing Christ Jesus as your Savior and Lord.
That is the best gift you can have this first day of the New Year!
Prayer:
Christ Jesus lives in me, so I am full of God’s wisdom. Lord, help me operate in Your wisdom every day of this New Year in Jesus’ name. Amen.
